Post Getting into DoAsc with my Ritualist

I took a leisurely stroll to the Realm of Anguish two days ago and publically asked which profession I should bring to the Realm of Anguish if I was to speed clear. I made it clear; it was a Guild Wars oldie asking what he should invest his time as to make some cash grinding the Domain of Anguish. Some nice folk suggested I bring my Ritualist here; multiple people in fact had this same thought. So forth I have been working on my Ritualist to advance him to beat Nightfall and eventually do some DoAsc.

PvXwiki is sooo very helpful in fact that I found which build everyone uses; Frostway. I have no idea why it's Frostway, why not call it something cool like Ritway or Pugway or ImSoPvXway? Getting to my point, this teambuild claims to take over three consets to work...? Three?! Last time I looked at other DoAsc builds there's one called Trenchway that takes "just a little over one conset and the potential to complete in under one conset." ONE?! Okay so Mesmers now are Pew-Pew-Pew but what happened to the Ritualist? I see how Mesmers can roll DoA with all their AoE spells and interupts but isn't Destructive was Glaive good too? It's like 105 damage + 25% armor penetration AND the Lightbringer title of course!

Seriously, down to business now:

1) What's the difference between Frostway and Trenchway? Is Frostway the PUG-friendly teambuild while Trenchway is for Pro's?

2) Were they right? I did the right thing to make a Ritualist to DoA?

3) SoS, ST and DwG are all used in DoAsc?

4) Are DwG Rits like A/D Snowstorms for SoOsc? (There are always an over-abundance; hard to get in groups?)

5) I haven't ever done DoA before; does the tank pull, group spike, rinse, repeat?

6) I have heard there are four separate areas of The Anguish Realm (sounds cool? ). Can I chose to speed clear one area at a time or do you do it all at once?

7) Any DoAsc guilds recruiting? I have been on my Assassin for almost 1,000 hours now (at 980 and counting), I have had most of that time experience in speed clears. I would say I am proficient. Although I have not done DoAsc before I would love to join your community

Thanks very much for your time, we all now how precious it is

1. Frostway is focused on using easy-to-learn, easy-to-pull-off-with-minimal-coordination tactics. Trenchway uses Shadow Form tanks to ball foes with an Emo bonder keeping them alive while the Mesmers spike them down. It requires hundreds of hours of practice to get under one conset runs, if you're going from 0 SC xp. Having each team member on ventrilo/team speak is almost 100% necessary in order to finish a run smoothly.

2. If you want to DoASC, no, ritualists are not useful, however, they are very, very good for Frostway and Glaiveway.

3. SoS, ST, and DWG are all used in DoAs, not SCs. 3 conset runs are not speed clears.

4. Yes.

5. No, usually someone with IAU pulls mobs into the people with DWG and they all faceroll. (I think, I don't do much DoA pugging)

6. Usually you do them all at once, however, in my experience pug teams rarely complete them all.

7. There are a lot of DoASC guilds recruiting, however, with 0 DoA experience you are not even close to being ready to tank. It is truly a completely different ball game compared to FoW and UWSC. Usually you learn all the roles (Seeder, Spikers, Emo) before learning tank, but it just depends on how well you know the area.

Frostway is an easy way of doing DoA. Imagine moshing your way through the whole of DoA, doing nothing more than aggro'ing 1 mob, dropping DwG, rince, repeat, that's Frostway. Now, DoASC has an incredible variety of ways to be done. Zraw Trenchway, LODX Trenchway, normal casterspike with A/E and A/Me, solotank, ... All of these tactics depend on what tanking tactics you're using...

2) Were they right? I did the right thing to make a Ritualist to DoA?
If you really want to get into DoASC, push a mesmer, monk and ele there, screw your rit, seriously, DwG is NOT something you would like to do...
3) SoS, ST and DwG are all used in DoAsc?
None are used in DoASC, only used in DwG, which is NOT a speedclear

4) Are DwG Rits like A/D Snowstorms for SoOsc? (There are always an over-abundance; hard to get in groups?)
Euhm, if you want to really do DwGway, then no, there should be plenty of spots..

5) I haven't ever done DoA before; does the tank pull, group spike, rinse, repeat?
In DoASC, yes, he balls things from just 3 mobs in city up to 80% of big room in foundry, but this is not in DwG way, there you just run headfirst into a mob and try to kill it by throwing ashes at it...

6) I have heard there are four separate areas of The Anguish Realm (sounds cool? ). Can I chose to speed clear one area at a time or do you do it all at once?
All at once

Look on the recruitment section of this very forum, you'll find at least 5 guilds looking for members, all those guilds teach DoASC (except for Zraw) and most I know to have no problem taking someone with 0 experiene and building him up from scratch (I've done that with plenty of people).

Why thank you all! I was looking for an answer and you two certainly know your stuff! On your suggestion I will stop with my Rit (grrr for me wasting four hours yesterday pushing him through Nighfall :///) and I'll use my monk now, thanks for your time!

Well, if your ambition is to get into a DoASC guild, you absolutely NEED a mesmer there. Half your team is made out of them, and all newcomers start off as a mesmer, usually playing bitchrole (this means you get to do the role no one likes, cause the bars are rather boring... In most guilds the bitchrole is the Mimic bar). But it's quite easy to get the hang off.

Frostway is not DoASC, pugs are too bad to speedclear doa, so they choose to use a method that is boring and not very profitable instead. If you want to learn to DoASC then i would suggest learning a few roles in FoWSC (which can be pugged) and getting at least a mesmer to the end of nightfall. This will make it easier to join a speed-clear guild that teaches Doa and get your foot in the door.
